Jinggoy, Mar top picks for senator
1:01 PM
MANILA - Reelectionist Senator Jinggoy Estrada topped Pulse Asia's latest survey on senatorial preferences, with 50%, or one of two respondents, saying they would vote for him in next year's elections.

The survey of 1,800 respondents was conducted July 28 to August 10, 2009.

Coming in second with 48 percent is Mar Roxas, who has said he would forego reelection and seek the presidency.

The rest of the top 12:

* reelectionist Pia Cayetano, 46.6;
* reelectionist Bong Revilla, 46.4;
* former Senator Frank Drilon, 46.3;
* reelectionist Miriam Santiago, 45.2;

* Jamby Madrigal, who also said she won't seek reelection and instead run for president, 38.9;
* former Senator Ralph Recto, 37.6;
* Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, who has also made noises about running for president or vice president, 37.5;
* Koko Pimentel, who has a pending protest case against Sen. Miguel Zubiri, 36.1;

* resigned Optical Media Board chair Edu Manzano, 34.9; and,
* reelectionist Juan Ponce Enrile, currently Senate president, 32.1.

Given the survey's margin of error of plus/minus 2%, former Senators Serge OsmeƱa III and Vicente Sotto III are considered within striking distance.
